I am basically a travel and portrait photographer who tries to find meaning of things within a larger context and tries to simplify to understand them better. My journeys have taken me to distant lands where by comparing previous experiences I have learned many lessons in life and have met many wonderful and beautiful people who have shared personal moments with me. I have been attracted to their compassion, humility, love, pride ... positive elements that give hope and confidence and bring people together regardless of race or religion.
I try to photograph beauty in all forms whether emotions, movement, or human interaction. My basic concept of life is one of mutual respect. I realize that faces may be different but human interactions and relationships are the same and so we are indeed a “family of man”.
This blog is an attempt to reconcile my thoughts with my pictures and also allows me to relive those special moments where I took these pictures and to remember the individuals and places with fondness.
Please write and let me know if you like or can relate to any of my pictures or if you know any of these faces whether in person or through your own experiences.
Thank you for taking time to view my images. May creativity, joy and peace lead you in whichever journey you choose.

Arif - Thank you very much for taking the time to write a comment. I am happy you liked these.
nuzhat aziz - These are wonderful. The first one in particular. These seem low contrast to me, but that may be my laptop display. Great work!
Arif - Thank you very much and I am flattered that you feel as such. To see and photograph Inle Lake with its proud fishermen holding on to their traditions was a very special experience for me and I am happy if my photographs could do a little justice to the beauty that existed there. Thank you again and I wish you many wonderful trips back to Inle and I hope you will remember me. I too hope to go back again.
Deirdre - I read your comments about travelling with Steve Mc Curry and wondered why you thought you needed his teaching. Perhaps you taught him a thing or two on that trip, your images are beautiful, in fact the most beautiful I’ve seen of fishermen on the lake. I will return after 20 years and your pictures are truly an inspiration to go back
Norman Choi - Absolutely stunning images Arif! I am wondering if there is any chance I can ask you for a bigger size file of photo #1 so that I can print a copy and hang it my dinning room.
