Wishing You a Very Happy New Year!

I met this couple in Bali during my last visit.  They were the Priest and Priestess at a local temple and I saw them walking hand in hand in the rice fields leading to the temple.  Slowly and delicately, they supported each other across the stairs and broken sidewalks and I walked with them thinking […]

Arif - Thank you very much Norman for taking the time to visit my blog regularly and to comment. I find the D3X to be an exceptional camera (especially with converted Leica-R glass) but still prefer the S2 since it gives a lot of pixels to crop and is just a joy to photograph with. The D3X does give a little more room for ISO than the S2 but I am now making more effective use of flash when needed. Lens selection is of course vast with the D3X but I feel I can get by now with three lenses for my style of photography. You can see some more of my S2 shots at the Leica S2 Mastershots gallery on the LFI Forum. Thanks again and please feel free to comment as often as you like.

Norman Choi - Hi Arif, I have been following your blog sometime now and I visit it on a regular basis as I find it to be an inspiriation.

Initially, I was searching through the internet becuase I am interested in the S2 but at the same time was considering the D3X. The type of photography that you do is exactly what I enjoy most. Good luck and look forward to more of your postings!

Tom - Hi Arif,
great image with the old couple. Love it.

Can you comment a bit on your feelings regarding handling d3x vs S2?
Doing the maths the S2 with the 70mm lens should be not any larger/heavier than the D3x with the 24-70 (of course the 50/1.4 is smaller).

I would hope to replace part of my Nikon gear (except tele and zooms) and part of my Hy6 gear (or all) eventually with an S2.
You can email me or answer on getdpi (t_streng).

Cheers, Tom
